Shift Tab ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome extension and website at shifttabs.app.

2. Information We Collect

Chrome Extension: Shift Tab stores your tab group data (group names, URLs, settings, and preferences) using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.sync API. This data is stored locally on your device and synced across your Chrome browsers through your Google account. We do not have access to this data and it never touches our servers.

Website: When you purchase Shift Tab Pro, Stripe (our payment processor) collects your payment information, email address, and billing details. We do not store your payment card details — Stripe handles this securely.

License Keys: Your license key is stored in Stripe's customer metadata and in your local extension storage. We use it solely to verify your Pro status.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and maintain the Shift Tab extension functionality
  • To verify Pro license keys when activated in the extension
  • To process payments through Stripe
  • To send transactional emails related to your purchase (via Stripe)

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We only share data with:

  • Stripe: For payment processing and license key management

5. Data Storage & Security

Tab group data is stored locally via Chrome Sync and never leaves your browser. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI DSS Level 1 certified. We use HTTPS for all communications between the extension and our verification API.

6. Permissions

The Shift Tab extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

  • tabs: To read, create, and close tabs when switching between groups
  • storage: To save your tab groups, settings, and license key
  • activeTab: To capture information about your current tabs
  • alarms: To enable scheduled tab switching (Pro feature)

7. Cookies

Our website does not use tracking cookies or analytics. The only cookies set are those required by our theme preference (light/dark mode), which are stored locally in your browser.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Delete all your extension data by uninstalling the extension or clearing Chrome storage
  • Request deletion of your Stripe customer data by contacting us
  • Access information about what data we hold about you

9. Children's Privacy

Shift Tab is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of Shift Tab after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
